Discuss the pros and cons of having a consultant conduct the appraisal
What will be an ideal response?
A consultant uses his or her expertise to advise a company undergoing self-appraisal. This provides the company with an objective opinion on the matter and allows formal evaluation of all the variables examined in the appraisal. A consultant’s appraisal, however, may become too academic, since it would be conducted without an intimate knowledge of the company. In short, corporate appraisal enables a company to view itself from many angles. Two separate evaluations, one with a consultant and one done internally, would be most beneficial.
