Be sure to describe the woman’s relationship with other members of both families, of both genders. What other factors determine status within a family besides gender? How central was gender as a means of determining status in the broader societal context, as compared to wealth or class or religion? Why? Where women’s lives more or less structured in Confucian Han China than men’s lives? Why or why not?
