Why does meiosis in females produce only one viable gamete while meiosis in males produces four? What will be an ideal response?

After fertilization, the female is obligated to provide all the metabolic machinery for the zygote. As a
result, the egg needs a large cytoplasmic mass to retain and support all the necessary organelles. The
male gamete merely delivers its chromosome content, and thus can survive on a small cytoplasmic
volume.
