Define e-texts and adapted PE and describe how they fit the philosophy of universal design for learning
What will be an ideal response?
E-texts are created from digital source files to be read by different media players as video, audio, flexible text, braille and other formats. Adapted PE is physical education in which activities have been adapted to enable students with disabilities to participate and benefit. In both cases, the goals of universal design for learning are met because the intent is to make learning and participation available to all students and the activities of creating e-texts and adapting PE can apply to all students, not just those with disabilities. The e-texts are useful to a wide range of students who may have problems with reading, and appeal to all students, even if they don't have specific reading problems. Adapted PE ensures that students with disabilities will have access to activities and opportunities to interact with students who do not have disabilities and may link those students to sports and recreational activities that will be a source of lifelong enjoyment.
