What is Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE)? How does SDAIE treat English Language Learners?

What will be an ideal response?

Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE) is a method of teaching students in English in such a manner that they gain skills in both the subject material and in using English. Learning something new requires that the learner redesign his or her mental schemes. To do this, the student has to bring his or her existing knowledge into play. SDAIE pedagogy encourages this process by treating the English Language Learner as a "knower," a student with lots of ideas that are temporarily inaccessible to the teacher because of the language barrier.
