How can having too much plant life in a body of water adversely affect the amount of oxygen in the water?

What will be an ideal response?

If the plant population in a body of water is too thick, the sun can be shaded from the lower levels of the water. This results in the plants at the bottom not having enough sunlight for photosynthesis, which means that they cannot produce oxygen.
