Why should we assess the risks of self-disclosure?
What will be an ideal response?
While relationships can be deepened through self-disclosure, we must assess risks
because we make ourselves vulnerable every time we disclose. Not only do we lose
control of information about ourselves, we could potentially offend someone, signal a
deeper level of intimacy than was intended, or even damage a relationship by
disclosing at the wrong time. It is important to assess a relationship to find out what
your partner is comfortable with discussing at a particular time.
