Describe how to locate a short to ground that causes the fuse to blow.

What will be an ideal response?

One method is to connect a test light, in series with a cycling circuit breaker, across the fuse holder and observe the test light while disconnecting individual circuits one at a time until the light goes out. The fault is in the circuit that was disconnected when the light went off.  A second method is to use a Gauss gauge or a compass with a cycling circuit breaker to locate the short to ground. Commercial short finders are available to assist in locating a short to ground. A transmitter is connected in series to the circuit and a receiver is moved along the wire harness. A short is indicated by LED illumination and audible sounds.
