What is "management by exception"? Do you think it represents an efficient use of management time? Why or why not?
"Management by exception" is one of the keys to effective variance analysis. It allows managers to investigate and take action for only those variances that deviate significantly from what was planned. It does represent an efficient use of their time because it permits them to only investigate certain variances which will "free up" their time for some of their other duties.
