. Briefly discuss how error correction varies with the type of practice used.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Response should include:
• Error procedures vary according to the type of practice.
• During guided practice, students require explicit explanation of why their response is incorrect, as well as additional modeling, more examples, and/or re-teaching of the skill. In order to be effective, teacher feedback must be as immediate as possible, thus keeping the students from practicing errors.
• During independent practice, error correction consists of calling to a student’s attention that an error has been made, but additional explanations or re-teaching should rarely be necessary since the student has already demonstrated high levels of success during guided practice before moving to the independent practice phase.
Learning Objective: Describe the prescribed format teachers should use in lesson presentations. Explain why each element is important and provide examples of objectives, lesson introduction, instruction and modeling, guided practice, independent practice, and closure.
