What is the current professional opinion of the utility of perceptual motor testing and training?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer:
Reviews of existing research on the utility of perceptual motor testing and training indicate a lack of support for the process remediation hypothesis. In 1987, Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) issued a position statement opposing the continuation of such testing and training. Today, most people see the training of perceptual functions coming most appropriately within the context of effective, explicit skill instruction in reading, writing, and other skills that require the use of a variety of perceptual abilities.
