T.H. asks, "Will I lose my mind?"

What will be an ideal response?

Probably not. ALS attacks the motor nerves only. The senses of sight, touch, hearing, taste, and smell
are not affected. The vast majority of patients do not experience impairment of the mind or thought
processes. One of the most devastating facets of ALS is that the mind remains sharp, despite the
progressive degeneration of the body.
