Explain how a teacher can help a child in kindergarten deal with the death of a parent.

What will be an ideal response?

The teacher should provide caring support for the child. This support can include talking about death with the child. At first, the child may believe that the parent will somehow magically appear. Through discussion with the teacher, the child comes to accept the finality of death. When this happens, the child expresses anger. The teacher accepts these feelings as being natural. The teacher encourages the child to read certain books that can help him deal with death and to play games that will help him to express his feelings in a constructive manner.
