What are the advantages and the disadvantages of the differing site conditions method?

What will be an ideal response?

This system is intended to generate lower bid prices because the contractor
need not attempt the often difficult task of providing a contingency in its
pricing for the subsurface uncertainties and need not incur extensive costs
connected with its own testing if it is not certain that the information
furnished y the owner under the disclaimer system is accurate. The most
important disadvantage is the uncertainty of the ultimate contract price.
Also the cost of administering the DSC system can be formidable. Another
argument sometimes made against the DSC system is the uncertainty as to
whether it actually induces lower bids.

According to Newton’s law of cooling, the time t needed for an object at an initial temperature to cool to a temperature T in an environment with ambient temperature is given by here k is a constant. Assume that for a certain type of container, k = 0.025 min–1. Let t be the number of minutes needed to cool the container to a temperature of 50°F. Assume that = 70.1 ± 0.2°F and = 35.7 ±

0.1°F. Estimate t, and find the uncertainty in the estimate.
