Describe the similarities of and differences between frequency distributions and grouped frequency distributions.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Both frequency distributions and grouped frequency distributions are descriptive statistics that delimit the values of the dependent variables produced by the sample and their frequencies. In both frequency distributions and grouped frequency distributions, the values of the dependent variable are ranked in either ascending or descending order. This is put in the first column of a table, with the rows being the different values of the dependent variable. In frequency distributions all values of the variable from the sample are listed, but if a value is not present in the sample, it is not included in the frequency distribution. In a grouped frequency distribution, the differing values of the dependent variable are placed into mutually exclusive and exhaustive intervals that contain the entire range of the scores obtained from the sample. In the second column of the table in both types of distributions is the frequency of that score (frequency distribution) or the frequency of scores in that interval. The third column represents the percentage of the sample who had that specific score or whose score fell in that interval. The last row of either type of frequency distribution represents the total number of participants in the sample (column two) and the cumulative percentage is in the third column.
