Explain the guidelines for using a microphone when

speaking.

What will be an ideal response?

If you have to use a microphone, there are several things you need to do to make
sure you use it effectively. First, be sure to practice your entire speech with the system, if
possible. Decide how close to stand to the microphone and notice any distracting vocal and
nonverbal sounds. Thirty minutes before you are about to speak, do a sound check just to
make sure everything is ready. It is also important to pay attention to the sound person in
case an issue arises. Finally, always assume the microphone is on and do not make any side
or private comments near the microphone.
