Individual factors focus on individual families, incorporating things like increased parental knowledge of child development, parenting skills, identifying, and treating mental health problems, are important individual approaches. But strengthen support systems, increasing access to services, increased access to employment opportunities and so on are environmental factors that may help prevent child maltreatment. The STEEP program combines problem-solving for these types of individual and environmental risk factors.
