What functions does a primer sealer perform?
What will be an ideal response?
A primer sealer is a coating applied following a primer, or after a previously painted surface has been prepared for paint, but before the topcoat is applied. It acts as a barrier coat, stopping the solvents in the topcoat from penetrating its surface, which could possibly cause adverse reactions. Primer sealer promotes adhesion to the coatings below it, as well as adhesion to the coatings above it. It also provides “hold out,” or the ability of the topcoat to shine and maintain its luster for many years after being applied. Primer sealers also provide a smooth and consistent surface for topcoats to be applied upon, thus allowing the topcoat and clearcoat to perform to the best of their ability
