Explain how practitioners can effectively use conferences and meetings to communicate with families? How long should conferences and meetings be? What should be accomplished during these conferences and meetings?

What will be an ideal response?

Effective meetings required lots of planning. Families should be contacted well in advance and brief on what is to be expected and accomplished in the meeting. The length of the meeting should be established in advance also. In terms of conducting the meeting, practitioners should have a clear structure. In the beginning, he or she should restate the purpose for and length of the meeting, and what they all hope to accomplish in that time. Discussion during the meeting should focus on the planned agenda items. Practitioners should also be open to soliciting information from families and, working in conjunction with the family, develop a plan to address the issues from the meeting. Practitioners should always spend time recapping and summarizing what was said in the meeting.
