Identify two advantages and two disadvantages of sales force planning
Advantages: The sales force has frequent contact with customers that might provide insight into what the customers may be considering for the future and also into customer perceptions of the company.
Disadvantages: Salespeople have difficulty differentiating between what customers say they will do and what they will actually do. People tend to have short-term memories; so after several periods of good sales, they may tend to be optimistic. There may be a conflict of interest if these forecasts are used to develop sales quotas because it will be in the salespeople's best interest to provide low estimates so that they can easily exceed them.
