Why use decodable texts? What is limiting about them?

Decodable texts provide repeated exposure to phonics elements and advance phonics and word recognition skills. They are useful in word study, and can accelerate some readers' early success in reading. They have a limited vocabulary, and many sound syntactically unnatural.
