Difference between token system and a level system.
A token system is the delivery of a token upon the performance of a behavior or set of behaviors. The tokens are later exchanged for predetermined backup reinforcers. A level system may use principles of a token system but is designed for shaping of appropriate student behaviors. Students progress through levels with each level requiring the student to meet a more rigorous standard in order to gain access to a wider variety of backup reinforcers.
