What essential points should all staff know about the specialty bed?

What will be an ideal response?

• Know how the controls of the bed work and all safety functions. Assess any electric beds or
controls at least twice during an 8-hour shift.
• Who to contact or call if there are problems with any specialty bed should be readily available.
• If your patient is transported for a procedure in the bed, check the bed as closely as you check the
patient when he or she returns to the room.
• Know the protocol of what sheets or pads are appropriate on that particular bed.
• If the bed contains a scale, know how to properly weight the patient in the bed.
