What is the difference between hearing and listening?
What will be an ideal response?
Hearing, the process by which sound enters the ear and is sent to the brain for
identification, is a mechanical process almost automatically carried on by the brain.
Listening, however, involves a concentrated physical and mental effort. To listen
effectively, a person must not only hear the communication but must also overcome
various physical and psychological barriers in order to understand what is being
communicated. Listening requires mental and physical effort.
