Parallelism occurs when the same grammatical structure is used for two or more clauses or sentences. While it is similar to antithesis, in parallelism the two structures do not contrast in meaning. An example of parallelism would be "The recent rainfall flooded the roadways, loosened the soil, and destroyed our local community."
