What are the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)?

What will be an ideal response?

The DMCA prohibits the falsification, alteration, or removal of copyright management data on digital copies of works. In other words, it makes it a crime to circumvent an encrypted work without authorization. The law makes it illegal to manufacture and distribute products that facilitate the circumvention of encrypted work. The DMCA also contains a safe harbor clause to protect Internet service providers from monetary damages if they unknowingly infringe on someone's rights, either by transmitting or storing infringing material or by linking users to websites containing infringing material. This law clears the way to licensing intellectual property for a fee over the Internet. However, the law is evolving with technology, so those who share files over the Internet need to stay up to date on the DMCA.
