The four stages of the change process are denial, resistance, exploration, and commitment. Denial is frequently the first reaction when people hear that changes are going to be made in the workplace. Once employees understand that the change will affect their work, resistance to change often occurs. Next, as the change is implemented, employees may begin to explore how the change affects their work and how they can adapt to the necessary changes. Finally, the employees determine their level of commitment to the change process. Recall, however, that the change process is ongoing, not linear.
