Driskell, Copper, and Moran (1994) performed a meta-analysis on 35 studies on mental
imagery and performance. They found overall positive support for the relationship between mental imagery and individual performance. This positive relationship occurred for both physical and mental tasks, with even stronger effects for mental tasks. Thus, while mental imagery is commonly used for Olympic athletes and in sports, the benefits may be even greater for many types of office work, service encounters, and complex cognitive tasks.
