Not necessarily. Think again of our three conditions. Regression models clearly demonstrate whether or not the predictors are related to the dependent variable, so that condition can be fulfilled. As for the condition of the relationship not being caused by a
third, underlying variable, regression does a better job than correlation in that you can include other possible causes in the model. However, it is unlikely that we will have included all possible variables. Finally, the time condition is not demonstrated by regression analysis.
