People typically do not like change and the uncertainty that comes with it, thus conflict can be a natural result of dealing with change. Being emotionally intelligent enables leaders to not only understand their own emotions when dealing with change, but to be aware of the emotions of others, and how emotions of both the leader and follower play into the situation at hand. If the leader is better able to manage an emotion-laden environment, chances are they will be able to defuse any conflict that arises.
