Louisa made a great impression at a recent job fair when talking to a recruiter. The recruiter left her a business card and a link to the job application on the employer’s site. Louisa was so excited that she went home and filled out the application right away. She then followed up with the recruiter and provided a cover letter and resume, along with the job application in .pdf format. She was

sure she had done everything correctly. However, she received a response from the recruiter stating that she had applied to the wrong job posting!

What impact did this mistake have on Louisa’s impression as an applicant?

How could she have avoided this issue?

It may show a lack of attention to detail, carelessness, and lack of thorough review. First impressions count! It could even cost Louisa the opportunity to interview.

She could have taken her time and made sure to double check all information prior to submission.
