Explain why some children repeatedly have problems falling asleep.
What will be an ideal response?
For some children, conditions such as chronic middle ear infection, the use of certain medications, and brain damage can prevent them from falling asleep. Other children might resist falling asleep because it means letting go, thereby allowing anxieties and fears to surface. Such fears can cause scary thoughts children want to avoid. Most children’s difficulty in falling asleep, however, results from poorly established sleep habits and routines.
