Furthermore, Latina and African American girls are often less concerned about weight gain than their white counterparts.” This could be because these subcultures place less emphasis on being thin. However, girls from every minority group still experience eating disorders, in particular BN and BED. Given this, the clinicians might be better served to make their program more all-encompassing, or provide different prevention programs to different communities.
