How can schools and families work together to prevent, end, and ameliorate bullying?

What will be an ideal response?

First of all, school administrators and teachers should collect data on bullying. There should be a school-wide campaign to end bullying. Parents and teachers need to communicate expectations of behaviors and be consistent with consequences for inappropriate behaviors. Progressive discipline programs should explicitly address bullying. Teachers should establish a good rapport with their students and families. It's important to listen well and to take seriously any concerns of bullying. Students may need to have counseling sessions. Schools and school districts should provide parent resource centers and opportunities for parenting skill development. Parent-school partnerships should be forged for mutual support.
