Why is it important for therapists treating individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) to have a strong support network?
What will be an ideal response?
The constellation of problems that characterize BPD is exceptionally difficult to treat. Moreover, clients with BPD often reinforce ineffective therapist behaviors and punish effective behaviors. To prevent the therapist from burnout and from nonadherent behavior, the therapist is required to attend a DBT consultation team as a source of support for therapists and to encourage adherence to the therapeutic model.
