What is the Premack principle?

What will be an ideal response?

The Premack principle states that a high-probability activity can serve as a reinforcer for a low-probability activity. The Premack principle is at work when an elementary school teacher tells a child, "When you complete your writing assignment, you can play computer games" (but is only effective if playing computer games is more desirable for the child than writing). The Premack principle also can be used with the entire class. A teacher might tell the class, "If all of the class gets their homework done by Friday, we will take a field trip next week."
