Compare and contrast the conceptualization of personality in the West with that in Arab/Muslim countries.

What will be an ideal response?

Most personality theories in the West assume an intra-psychic construct (ego, self, trait, drives) and processes (conflicts, repression, self-actualization) according to which behavior is explained. In contrast, in Arab Muslim societies, personality continues to be other-focused. In these societies, the concept of personality goes beyond the intra-psychic constructs and processes and focuses on the social layer, because the intra-psychic structures are dependent on the external, social layer of personality.
