Explain why using intensity alone as a measurement of seismic power can pose problems for truly understanding the energy released by the earthquake
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Intensity cannot be used in uninhabited areas. Intensity cannot indicate whether the earthquake was nearby (and small) or far away (and large). Intensity does not indicate whether the earthquake alone was large enough to cause the damage or if the damage occurred because of shoddy construction.
