Describe how the increasing world population contributes to other factors that threaten the world's food supply

People in poorer countries tend to have larger families to ensure that there will be children who live to adulthood to support their families. These individuals will need to compete for a limited food supply. More individuals will drive the need to plant more crops, and if done unsustainably this can contribute to loss of topsoil and water that people will need to survive. More people will need access to fresh water, which is also needed for the production of crops and livestock.
