Critical thinking is the ability to analyze and assess information. You can critically analyze and assess a speaker's message by asking the following questions: Is the speaker qualified to draw the
conclusions? Has the speaker actually observed what he/she is talking about? Does the speaker have a
vested interest in the message? Is there adequate evidence presented to support the conclusions? Is the
evidence relevant to the conclusions? Does contradictory evidence exist that refutes what has been
presented? Does the message contain inadequate or invalid reasoning?
