How pivotal was Princess Diana's role in development of the treaty? Do you think the timing of her death had any effect on the outcome?

turn, generated public pressure upon the leaders of the world to come to an
agreement to ban the use of landmines. Her death, coming at the opening of the
international conference, may have increased public pressure in favor of the
proposed ban.
