What is the receive signal strength indicator?
What will be an ideal response?
The IEEE 802.11 standard defines a mechanism by which RF signal strength energy can be measured by the circuitry on a wireless network interface card adapter (wireless NIC). This is known as the Receive Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). This value was intended for internal use by the wireless NIC. For example, a wireless NIC in a laptop computer can check the RSSI value to determine if it is clear to send its transmission or if the user is roaming beyond the range of a particular AP.
