Personality theory is the system of rules that tells you which characteristics go with which characteristics. Primacy-recency effects suggest that you are more affected by what comes first or most recently. Consistency is the tendency to maintain balance among perceptions or attitudes. Attribution of control is a process by which you focus on explaining why someone behaved as he or she did on the basis of whether the person had control over his or her behavior.
