List the disadvantages of verbal RJPs
What will be an ideal response?
First, it is difficult to control the content of impromptu verbal RJPs. When an
applicant asks a question of a line worker during an on-site visit, the organization has
little control over what that person will say. The honesty expressed during that
interchange can be very helpful to the applicant, but the organization has no way of
tracking the information. Second, given the first disadvantage, it is very difficult to
ensure consistency among verbal RJPs. When an applicant speaks with several different
people during a typical application process, she will most likely be given different
information about the same topic. The applicant is then left to judge the information
based on the perceived credibility of the source.
