Explain Apple’s view of user interface design, especially for apps.

What will be an ideal response?

Apple was a pioneer in user interface development, introducing the graphical user interface (GUI), complete with mouse and screen icons, in the early 1980s. Many industry leaders believe that the best interfaces are the ones that users do not even notice — they make sense because they do what users expect them to do. For example, as shown in Figure 8-2, Apple believes that designing an exceptional user interface is essential to a successful app. Apple has long distinguished itself from its competitors by the intuitiveness of their products. Apple’s command of the market suggests that consumers are willing to pay a premium for products that “just work.”
