Describe how the voltage regulator controls AC generator output?

What will be an ideal response?

It controls the output voltage of the generator, based on charging system demands, by controlling field currents. Regulation of voltage is done by varying the amount of field current flowing through the AC generator rotor. The higher the field current, the higher the output voltage.
