Forging is a method of forming material into different shapes by using force. This can be done either with or without heat. Casting is a method of creating a desired shape from a given material. The material is melted, poured into a mold, and allowed to cool. Welding is a method of permanently joining or fusing two materials together using a combination of locally melting the two surfaces and adding a filler material.
