Words are just symbols. People create the meaning for words in their minds. Words
themselves are not guilty for misunderstandings; people are. For example, a student
says she will be ?early? for a group meeting. In her mind, ?early? means arriving a
minute or two before the beginning of the meaning. A misunderstanding occurs when
the other members of the group arrive 10 minutes early. They obviously interpreted
?early? in two different ways.
