Discuss why the costs of treating complications due to type 2 diabetes are so considerable to the National Health Service

Complications of untreated type diabetes are severe and include stroke, amputation, blindness, kidney failure, and heart disease. These are chronic conditions that require on-going medical care. Many of these conditions have treatments that are very expensive and the individuals receiving such care may not have health insurance so the cost is passed on to the health care system.
