If you or a family member received the unfortunate news of cancer, why is it that being told the cancer is in situ is more encouraging in terms of treatment than a cancer that metastasizes?

What will be an ideal response?

Some cancers are more treatable than others, and in fact, may be removed entirely if detected early enough. In situ cancer means that the cancerous cells remain in one location and do not spread by invading other tissues and organs, as is the case with metastasis. Therefore, an in situ cancer may be able to be fully removed by surgery or can be treated with localized procedures.
